He married Hannah CHANDLER 25 Dec 1818 in Frensham Surrey.

After the transportation of Richard to Australia, Hannah had three further children - each took on the name of Messingham however, the father was Thomas BARKER, with whom Hannah was living at the time:

  2. Henry MESSINGHAM, baptised 3 Jan 1830 - Headley, Hampshire.

Although the spelling of Missingham was used at the time of baptism, each grew up to use the spelling of Messingham by the middle of the century.
