He was killed in action 01 Nov 1917 whilst serving as a Corporal in the Essex Regiment, 2nd Garrison Bn, in India. He was buried Kirkee 1914-1918 Memorial, Khadki, Maharashtra, India (Plot E, Row B, Grave 18).
