Alfred MESSINGHAM was born 5 Apr 1901 in Hampton Middlesex (the eighth of nine sons), and baptised 4 May 1901 St. Mary's, Hampton, Middlesex.

At the time of the 1911 Census, Alfred was living with his parents and 3 brothers at 33 Malvern Road, Hampton, Middlesex (opposite the home of his future wife, Emily Major).\\

He enlisted into the [[wp>History_of_the_Royal_Marines|Royal Marine]] Light Infantry, Chatham Division, 13 Dec 1918 at the age of 17.\\ 
\\ 
He died 3 Dec 1956.\\
